Job Overview: An established and highly respected Company offering a world-class suite of seismic processing capabilities and exploration service solutions are seeking a Team Leader to manage the Company's growing depth imaging group providing services to clients within Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Applicants are invited with a minimum of 10 years seismic data processing experience and proven depth imaging experience. In this senior level role, you will drive the strategies for future depth imaging services, and build and mentor your team ensuring that skills are available to support the increasing demand for the Company's depth imaging services.

The Company is part of a large global geophysical group, offering a broad range of specialized geophysical services to the petroleum industry, worldwide. Its services include land, shallow water OBC (ocean bottom cable) and TZ (transition zone) seismic data acquisition and advanced seismic processing and interpretation services. Increased demand for the company's services has led to a need to expand their UK based time and depth processing services.

The Company is renowned for its pioneering work in 3D AVO, rock properties studies and seismic imaging all of which are backed by an active Research and Development group, supporting and augmenting the Company's proprietary software packages.

Your main responsibilities will include planning and managing seismic data processing projects through PreStack Depth Imaging with an emphasis on producing high quality products and delivering efficient project turnaround times. In addition, you will mentor and develop the skills of depth team members collaborate with senior management, research staff and other geophysical team member to achieve company goals and promote improvements in technical standards.

Responsibilities: Reporting to the Data Processing Manager, your key tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Become competent in the Company's technologies, processes and practices.
  • Plan and manage seismic data processing projects through PreStack Depth Imaging with an emphasis on producing high quality products and delivering efficient project turnaround times.
  • Develop and maintain good client relations, and ensure that group processing meets client and company specifications with regard to data quality and turnaround schedule
  • Ensure that all necessary testing is performed accurately and results are presented clearly with improvement recommendations made where appropriate
  • Maintain good communications between the processing group members and other processing personnel contributing to the project objectives
  • Maintain good communications with the client throughout project duration and provide the client with regular and accurate project status reports.
  • Design efficient processing sequences and testing flows.
  • Liaise closely with technical support groups involved in project tasks to ensure that quality and turnaround targets are maintained and technical standards are continuously improved.
  • Ensure the smooth running of projects on a daily basis. This includes planning, organizing and delegating required work including unexpected and planned absences
  • Mentor and develop the skills of depth team members - assist staff with on-the-job training and ensure adequate training opportunities
  • Keep abreast of developments in seismic data processing, communication/data transfer techniques with company geophysical software.

With relevant technical and project management skills, you will have a great deal of scope and autonomy to develop, manage and drive depth imaging services. Preferences: The successful candidate will have:

  • A physics, geophysics, earth sciences or related degree essential, MSc or PhD in a related subject preferred.
  • A minimum of 6 years seismic processing experience essential.
  • Experience in depth imaging including velocity model building essential.
  • Good Knowledge of data quality assurance and quality control methods essential.
  • Proven experience leading or/and managing depth imaging projects essential. Preferably in a Team Leader or Supervisory capacity.
  • Proven experience in using a mainstream industry processing application desirable (e.g. Promax, Focus, GeoVecteur, Omega, GeoDepth).
  • Proven effective project management experience - the ability to lead teams conducting multiple projects, in a professional and timely manner essential.
  • Strong understanding of the market trends, work practices and technologies relating to depth imaging essential.
  • Self-motivated individual - can lead and manage an expanding team essential.
  • Proven team builder - the ability to mentor, support and develop staff and to utilise their skills effectively.
  • Excellent client communication skills - the ability to listen and understand project constraints and expectations and to articulate/present technical results to partners and clients.
  • Methodical with attention to detail - strong focus on delivering reputable services.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills - the ability to work at all levels within the Company to accomplish goals.
  • Strong networking experience/capability. Excellent client facing skills the ability to liase with clients effectively at all levels.
  • Persuasive/assertive personality that can provide focus, leadership and direction.

Package: An attractive Salary of between £70K - £100K is on offer dependent on skills and experience plus Company benefits.
