Job Overview: A leading International Services Company in the Oil and Gas industry is seeking a Regional Services Manager to lead, manage and drive the sales and delivery of service solutions within Europe and the Sub-Saharan Africa region. You will define effective strategies to achieve service sales objectives, leading and guiding your service team in the successful implementation of these strategies. This is a senior level strategic position and applicants are invited with a background in delivering, managing or/and selling consulting service solutions. As the Company is on the threshold of launching some innovative technologies, a strong entrepreneurial drive is key in supporting this launch and the related service offerings throughout the region.

The Company, with offices in 80 countries is a leading provider of integrated software solutions to the global energy industry. Their innovative solutions supports all aspects of the upstream oil cycle - from finding hydrocarbons to evaluating the prospects, building the wells, and managing and optimising the production process. They also provide a host of technologies supporting real-time workflows and robust information management systems. They have been at the forefront of leading technology advancements for nearly three decades, enabling the upstream oil and gas industry turn critical information into useful knowledge.

Their service offerings cover all aspects of their integrated software suite plus the deployment of the technology and infrastructure required for its effective usage across multiple platforms, sites, both onshore and offshore. These services include: application delivery and hosting services, information management services, and petro-technical computing and IT services.

Responsibilities: Reporting to the Regional General Manager, Europe and Sub-Saharan Africa, your primary responsibilities will be to:

  • Build close relationships of trust with existing service teams - be proactive in understanding their needs, priorities, challenges, constraints and market trends;
  • Be responsible for profit & loss of all service solutions within the region. Promote business acumen to your team that is revenue and margin target oriented. Provide accurate financial forecasting into financial systems, and effective communication of financials to all required stakeholders in the Company;
  • Manage a growing and evolving service organisation for your region.
  • Work closely with senior level personnel in existing and new clients, understanding strengths and weaknesses of existing portfolio of service offerings. Identify new business opportunities for added or new services.
  • Devise strategies for effective service delivery - establish and maintain consistent (reliable & predictable) service delivery - develop and promote service delivery methodologies, policies and good practices that become common place across all offices in the region - measure and meet Service Level Agreements (SLA). Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction is maintained throughout the delivery of all services.
  • Staff up projects, hire for future growth, develop the right skills and teams, put in place development plans and mentoring of junior staff. Strive to ensure an integrated tightly bound team of service resource that is utilised on a continuous basis.
  • Work closely with your service teams throughout the region, guiding and assisting them to raise the standards and reputation of the service offerings.
  • Work closely with marketing personnel to raise the awareness of service offerings and reputation of service delivery. Be proactive in marketing solutions at roadshows, case studies, exhibitions, conferences etc.

Preferences: The successful candidate will have:

  • Degree preferred. Preferably in an earth science related subject.
  • 10 years' minimum Oil and Gas industry experience essential.
  • Proven experience in leading, managing AND/OR selling service solutions essential.
  • Proven experience in application delivery and hosting services, information management services, and petro-technical computing AND/OR IT services essential.
  • Experience in leading large service delivery teams across multiple disciplines and regions.
  • Highly strategic - ability to devise regional plans that will deliver objectives.
  • A strong understanding of the evolving oil and gas life cycle essential - the new technologies, practices and technical play concepts emerging in exploration and production, and what this will mean in terms of new service requirements.
  • An assertive individual with the ability to provide effective leadership in conflicting and demanding situations in a dynamic environment essential.
  • Entrepreneurial approach essential - ability to identify new markets, new service offerings - can leverage existing strengths and react and lead in dynamic market conditions.
  • Strong financial acumen essential. Previous P&L accountability highly advantageous.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills essential.
  • Highly methodical - ability to multi-task, prioritise, with a attention to detail but constantly paying attention to the bigger picture.
  • Excellent communications skills - you will liaise with senior level management and technical personnel across many countries to achieve results. You will participate at senior level meetings with industry personnel and clients.
  • Personality and confidence to build strong relationships at all levels internally and externally to deliver results. The ability to form relationships across different cultures and form relationships of trust is paramount to this role.
  • Strong MS Office essential. Technical aptitude to grasp new technologies desired.
  • Ambitious - focus on developing career path - to grow with the role - take on new challenges and to exceed expectations.
  • European Language(s) desired.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and to deliver results.
