Lead Cost Engineer - Trinidad and Tobago



A Major Global Operator has approached us in order to identify a Lead Cost Engineer to work on a large offshore tie-back project and to be based in Trinidad & Tobago.


The individual will be responsible for the development and management of overall cost management on the project.

Other responsibilities of the role include:

•Execute all cost management aspects of the project in accordance with project Health, Safety, Security and Environmental requirements

•Prepare the project cost break-down structure in coordination with work and organisational structures and accounting proc esses in liaison with the appropriate functions and managers

•Prepare and operate in-house overall cost management systems and cost data.

•Work with the cost estimator in the development of project estimates including additional scope.

•Provide accurate and timely project cost reports, verifying cost performance against plan, and identifying areas of potential budget overrun requiring corrective action

•Monitor, obtain and review the expenditure elements of contractor performance throughout the contract life-cycle and recommending corrective action where necessary

•Prepare earned value analysis in conjunction with the project planner/scheduler

•Supports the preparation of the project monthly report with input of expenditure data

•Develop recovery plans to respond to negative variances in cost (taking into account the schedule as well) with appropriate stakeholders (both internal and external); initiate Change Control as necessary

•Lead the undertaking of cost risk analyses and support schedule risk analyses

•Support internal and partners' project cost reviews and approvals processes

•Support the preparation of resource/man-hour plans for the project

•Produce and maintain annual budget cost estimates submitted for annual work program and budget approval.

The successful candidate will have significant experience in either E&P or LNG and knowledge of all delivery phases of major oil and gas projects e.g. Engineering, Procurement, Construction. They will also have a proven track record of successful cost management on complex projects. A strong educational background in relevant discipline would also be advantageous.
