Software Technical Engineer - Reservoir Engineering - Paris, France



A new opening has come to light for a couple of reservoir engineers for software technical teams with a leading global consultancy.

Providing software at the cutting edge of each domain is a key challenge in the oil and gas industry. The task of the software technical engineer is to ensure that products are in constant improvement to meet the latest needs of clients.

You will lead or working inside a team of geoscientists, in interaction with developers, you will discuss and plan future developments and provide support and training for our clients. Candidates must be acquainted with the use of software in their field of expertise, show rigour and possess good communication and team working skills.

Our activity is divided into four main product lines: basin modelling, reservoir characterization, dynamic simulation and uncertainties/history match.

You will be based in Europe but may have short assignments abroad, in South America, Europe, Africa or the Middle East.

Acting as product manager or reporting directly to him, the successful candidate will be expected to:
•Analyze and provide solutions to clients through the support activity
•Give technical presentations of our products to potential clients.
•Ability to manage multiple tasks in parallel
•Organize and contribute to discussions to plan future developments.
•Write technical documents describing precisely new functionalities to develop and test them.
•Provide training for clients.

Desired Skills & Experience

The successful candidate will have:
•An MSc in geophysics, geology or petroleum engineering. A PhD is a plus.
•A true experience using software solutions in the oil and gas industry is appreciated
•Working knowledge of Unix and PC systems
•Commitment for mobility as the job may include short-term and long-term missions overseas.
•Strong interpersonal and communication skills, written and oral
•A confident and assertive personality with the ability to provide effective technical leadership and articulate strong technical arguments.
