Senior Ecologist

Edinburgh, UK

Salary : £30K+

Qualification - Degree in a relevant discipline

- Professional membership of IEEM

- Protected species licences

- Full clean driving licence

Location - Edinburgh

Experience - Considerable ecologist experience, preferably within a consultancy framework

- Demonstrable skills in field surveying, report writing, staff and project management

- Demonstrable knowledge of current legislation and EIAs

- Demonstrable knowledge of commercial awareness

Salary - £30,000 plus

Duties Include:

  • Field surveys, desk studies, report writing

  • Staff management and mentoring

  • Preparation of ecological chapters of EIAs

  • Designing and implementing habitat management and mitigation schemes

  • Project management

  • Managing budgets and preparation of bids

  • Developing business

Typical Projects

As a senior ecologist you will join this growing constancy based in Edinburgh and cover projects across Scotland. You will work on various ecological projects and undertake relevant surveys which will include protected species surveys, phase 1 surveys, EIAs. You will write reports and conduct desk research to support findings and liaise with clients to ensure projects are successful. You will collaborate with other professionals on large scale projects and successfully coordinate project inputs. Managing and training a team of ecologists you will develop your teams skill sets to enhance the services offered. Providing support to the principal ecologist you will also be responsible for the managing and preparation of bids and the preparation of ecology chapters and licence applications.
