Senior Ecologist

Cirencester, UK

Salary : £NEG

Qualification - NE All Counties Bat Licence, other protected species licences anticipated

- Professional membership of IEEM

- MSc / BSc in a relevant discipline

- Full Clean Driving licence

Location - Cirencester

Experience - Previous ecologist experience, with good field surveying skills and experience in project and staff management

Salary - £Negotiable depending on skills and experience

  • Undertaking field surveys

  • Producing written reports to a high standard

  • Providing specialist ecological advice

  • Working with a focus in the field of Bats, with the remainder of the role working in the field of other protected species and EIAs

Typical Projects

Joining this established and successful environmental consultancy, you will undertake ecological projects mainly across the south west of England and Wales.

With your Bat Licence your role will have a focus on surveying and providing advice in the field of Bats, with the remainder of the work load covering other protected species work and phase 1 habitat surveying.

You will plan and undertake field surveys and produce high quality written reports for clients. You will effectively liaise with and advise clients, seeking to build lasting working relationships to further develop the business in your area.

You will be expected to confidently and successfully carry out field surveys independently and as part of a team, with the ability to manage staff and projects when required.

You can expect to be involved in a wide variety of projects, for example residential and commercial developments, habitat maintenance and creation, highways developments and maintenance, and many more. In particular there are a lot of on going bat related projects at present. You will also work with planning applications, collaborating with architects, archaeologists and planners to prepare the applications. The consultancy currently works with clients from both public and private sectors and enjoys a reputable reputation amongst its clients.
