Senior Ecologist 

Scotland, UK

Salary : £25 - 30K

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced ecologist to join this expanding team based in Edinburgh, working o a variety of projects including projects in the energy, water and transport sector, you will enjoy working with a professional ecology team and benefits from further training and development opportunities.

Qualification- Candidates for this role are required to hold an appropriate academic and professional background. A BSc / MSc in Ecology is anticipated, as are protected species licences and MIEEM.

Experience- Candidates are anticipated to hold demonstrable experience within an ecology consultancy environment. Those with skills in a variety of ecological surveys and mitigation, as well as working on large scale EIA projects will be at an advantage. Currently the consultancy have a large number of projects in the renewable and energy sectors, so previous experience of these types of projects is highly desirable, as is ornithological skills.

Salary- £25-30,000

Company- Multidisciplinary consultancy

Duties Include:

  • Planning and undertaking ecological field surveys

  • Designing and implanting mitigation schemes

  • Undertaking habitat, protected species, vegetation, ornithological and EIA surveys and assessments

  • Report writing

  • Staff and project management

Typical work will involve ornithological impact assessments, migratory and breeding bird surveys, vegetation and upland habitat surveys, protected species surveys and preparing chapters for EIA reports.

Projects that you will work on include wind farm developments, hydro power developments and pipeline developments.
