Ecologist - Fixed term contract 

Blackburn, UK

Salary : £18 - 20K

An excellent opportunity has arisen with one the UKs leading consultancies for an experienced ecologist to join the large environmental team based in Blackburn to provide immediate support in protected species, habitat and NVC surveys.

Qualification- Candidates for this role are anticipated to hold a BSc / MSC in Ecology or similar, those with protected species licences (Bat and GCN of particular interest) and membership of IEEM will be at an advantage. A full clean driving licence is a requirement of the role.

Location- Blackburn

Experience- Candidates are anticipated to hold previous consultancy experience, with skills in undertaking the following ecology surveys / assessments;

  • Protected species

  • NVC

  • Habitat surveys

  • ECIA

  • BREEAM

Salary- £18-20,000 pa (pro rata)

Company- Multidisciplinary consultancy

Duties Include:

  • Providing support to senior ecologists

  • Undertaking field surveys – protected species, NVC, Phase 1 and extended phase 1 habitat surveys

  • Undertaking ecological BREEAM assessments, and providing expert advice to design teams

  • Liaising with clients landowners and other stakeholders

  • Report writing

Typical Projects

In this role you will benefit from having the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects. Currently the North West based team are working on projects in the fields of;

  • Transport

  • BSF projects

  • Restoration projects

  • Public rights of way

  • Infrastructure

You will work within a team of dedicated ecologists and environmental professionals, undertaking field surveys and assessments and providing mitigation advice as necessary.

You will also work on ecological / environmental enhancement., monitoring and management projects, and work with internal multidisciplinary teams to provide expert ecological design advice.
