Environmental Modeller

This expanding environmental consultancy currently have a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic candidate to join their environmental modelling team based in Cambridge.

The role would suit an individual with previous modelling experience and a background in science based data collection and analysis.

Qualification- BSc / MSc in a science discipline- Chemistry / environmental chemistry ideal.

Location- Cambridge

Experience- Candidates for this role are anticipated to have some previous experience of data analysis and interpretation, report writing and theoretical modelling.

Salary- £18-22,000

Company- Multidisciplinary environmental consultancy

Duties Include:

  • Data analysis

  • Report writing

  • Computational modelling / theoretical modelling

  • Keeping up to date with current EU legislation

  • Completing environmental risk assessments

  • Utilise relevant guidance and modelling tools, eg FOCUS

  • Prepare high quality risk reports

Typical Projects

Working within this specialist team you will undertake a variety of projects in the area of Regulatory modelling for new substances, to an EU level. The focus of the role is to assess the environmental risk / hazard of new products and use data analysis and theoretical modelling to provide expert advice to private and public sector clients.

The group undertakes consultancy projects for private clients and also research projects for government agencies so there is plenty of opportunity to get involved in a range of work.

Typical areas of work include environmental risk assessments of new pesticides, veterinary products and general chemicals.

The role would suit an individual with some previous experience of theoretical modelling within the environmental field, or an excellent academic background within a science based subject (Chemistry ideal), the successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills with an enthusiasm for the environmental field.
