Graduate Contaminated Land Consultant

A fantastic opportunity has arisen with my client in Edinburgh for an enthusiastic individual to start a career as a contaminated land consultant. The ideal candidate will hold a relevant degree in a subject such as environmental science, environmental geoscience, earth science or similar and have a good understanding of how contaminated land work is undertaken in consultancy. You will be working with one of Europe’s largest multi-disciplinary consultancies who offer tailored graduate training in addition to highly attractive remuneration packages. Qualification - BSc in Environmental Science / Environmental Geoscience / Earth Science or similar

Experience – Any prior consultancy experience would be highly beneficial

Salary - £17-£20k

Company - International multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy

Staff - 2000

Duties

  • Phase 1 desk studies – using site history and maps to develop a theoretical model of the extent of the site’s contamination.

  • Phase 2 intrusive site investigation – based on the results of Phase 1 you will be required to perform a site investigation taking samples of water and soil for analysis.

  • Factual report writing – compiling reports on the results of sample analysis giving detailed information on the contaminants found on site.

  • Supervising small site investigations, including liaising with contractors to ensure successful, on time project completion.

Typical projects

Our client has recently acquired several large scale contaminated land projects in the Edinburgh area and as such the successful applicant will initially be working on these as part of a small team. Workload will be split approximately 2:1 between site-based and office-based duties.
