My client is one of the UK’s largest multi-disciplinary consultancies and has a large team of contaminated land specialists based in Scotland. To facilitate further expansion and an expected increase in contaminated land work in Northern Ireland they are seeking an individual to join their Belfast office with the intention of setting up a new team. The successful candidate must have substantial experience working in this sector and be comfortable undertaking business development (working closely with the Scottish teams). My client’s intention is that the successful candidate will be working towards promotion to Technical Director and as such assume full responsibility for the team in Belfast once it has been established.

Qualification – Preferably Chartered or working towards

Experience - 8 years plus

Salary - £40k plus

Company - Multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy

Staff - 2000

Duties

• Manage projects from award through to completion including allocation of budget and resources ensuring successful, on time completion.

• Work closely with the business unit Technical Director in Scotland on business development issues for new and existing clients.

• Deliver solutions directly to clients including technical reporting and presenting.

• Be involved in the coaching and training of more junior team members as part of their professional development and growth of the team.

Typical projects

My client is a world-wide provider of environmental and engineering solutions. As such there is scope for involvement in international projects, although the majority of project work will be undertaken for UK based clients. Projects range from dedicated contaminated land remediation assessments to multi-disciplinary developments.
