Principal Noise Consultant

Durham

Salary : £30-45K+

An urgent requirement has arisen within a successful and increasingly expanding multidisciplinary consultancy with a network of offices across the globe and specialist expertise in all areas of environmental engineering. Due to this continued growth a Principal Noise consultant is required to manage a team of highly skilled consultants specialising in air quality and acoustics in this renowned firm’s Durham branch. Successful applicants will have considerable experience in a similar role, a strong background in environmental acoustics and a proven track record in team and project management in addition to expert witness and business development.

Salary: £30 - 45K + benefits, depending on experience

Qualifications:

  • BSc(Hons)/BEng(Hons) in Acoustics or a post graduate qualification in acoustics

  • MIOA

  • Full driving license

Experience:

  • Considerable acoustic consultancy experience at a similar level gained during employment in consultancy, Local Authority or work in the public sector.

  • Broad experience of noise measurement and assessment work, to include site suitability for housing, industrial noise sources such as factories, extractive industries and waste sites, investigation of environmental noise complaints

  • Highly experienced in report writing, making presentations, and working to deadlines

  • Familiarity with noise modeling software, ideally using CadnaA

  • Preparation of expert reporting and presentation as an Expert Witness at Public Inquiry

  • Proven track record of staff and project management in addition to business development

Duties:

  • Managing and undertaking noise projects and noise assessments for EIAs

  • Project management of multi-disciplinary environmental assessments

  • Staff supervision and client liaison

  • Preparing cost estimates and tender / proposal documentation for noise projects

  • Preparing draft invoices for TD approval

  • Acting as expert witness at Public Inquiry

  • Developing building sound insulation testing proficiency and developing new markets, including appropriate supervision and training for team members

  • Marketing of the team’s acoustic capabilities in general

  • Comply with Health and Safety duties, and supervise less-experienced staff

Projects:

Delivering a number of exciting and substantial projects within the divisions of transportation, construction, manufacturing, nuclear development, residential, waste disposal, gas/energy.
