Geotechnical Engineer

Cardiff, UK

Salary: £NEG

Qualifications: You will have a BSc or MSc in applied geology, engineering geology, geotechnical engineering, geohazard assessment or similar.

Experience: You will have demonstrable experience of working for a consultancy or contractor previously in a geotechnical role and will ideally have some geo-environmental experience also. A willingness to learn and a genuine enthusiasm for the work you do is essential.

Salary: £neg dependant upon experience

Duties:

  • Undertaking desk studies to include detailed historical and geological mapping of sites

  • Trial pitting, cable percussion drilling, windowless sampling, rotary and dynamic probe rigs

  • Gas and groundwater monitoring

  • Scheduling of geotechnical and geoenvironmental samples for laboratory testing

  • Undertaking slope stability assessments and foundation design

  • Project management ensuring results are delivered on time and within budget

  • Producing detailed and accurate factual and interpretive reports including borehole logs

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a South Wales based geotechnical engineer looking to join this medium sized environmental consultancy who specialize in delivering geotechnical, geo-environmental, contaminated land and remediation advice and solutions. This is a fantastic opportunity to join this small but extremely successful environmental consultancy. They are renowned throughout the south west and Wales and in terms of turnover are one of the leading consultancies around. Due to continued successes they are currently looking to recruit a geotechnical engineer who can hit the ground running; a sound background of ground field expertise and strong interpretive report writing skills are essential for this role. You will be involved in a variety of both geotechnical and geo-environmental projects for commercial, public sector, local government clients whilst also carrying out work on behalf of civil and engineering consultancies.
