Consultant Arboriculturist


My client is a growing multi-disciplinary environmental consultancy who work out of 3 UK based offices to provide high quality ecology, arboriculture, landscape architecture and geotechnical services. This organisation is made up of a team of environmental experts who work on a wide range of challenging projects from large scale development, construction and rail sector work to smaller education, healthcare and public sector developments. Due to continued success and upcoming projects, this business requires a Consultant Arboriculturist to join the team in their Basingstoke office.

Skills and Experience

  • Level 3 arboricultural qualification
  • At least 3 years' experience working within the consultancy sector
  • Demonstrable experience delivering BS5837 development related surveys
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills; able to deal with a wide range of clients
  • Good working knowledge of industry standard software, e.g. AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Applications
  • In depth knowledge of BS 5837:2012 along with the ability to advise clients accordingly
  • Excellent organisation skills; able to work efficiently towards given deadlines
  • Experience of Woodland Management planning
  • Ability to produce tree works specification and tender documents
  • Business development and marketing
  • Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle

About the Role

Working as a Consultant Arboriculturist, the main duties of your role will include:

  • Preparing drawings and reports of survey work undertaken using the relevant software, e.g. AutoCAD, QArb and Microsoft Office
  • Undertaking a range of British Standard (BS) tree surveys and site inspections
  • Providing expert advice to clients in relation to the impact on trees of proposals and projects
  • Producing high quality reports, including Arboricultural Impact Assessments and Method Statements
  • Working efficiently within project deadlines and budget restraints
  • Maintaining excellent working relationships with existing client as well as acquiring new business
  • Dealing with client enquiries and preparing fee proposals
