Principal Traffic Engineer


My client, a national multidisciplinary Engineering consultancy is searching for a Principal Traffic Engineer to join their Traffic and Highways team based in Reading.

Essential criteria:

  • Previous extensive experience working as a Traffic Engineer with a traffic engineering team.
  • Conduct Site Audits and Prepare drawing for Section 278 Agreements.
  • Familiarity of Design Manual for Roads and Bridges, Manual for Streets and Traffic Signs Regulations.
  • Experience with negotiating with local highway authorities.
  • Extensive knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • Good understanding of software such as PDS, PDS Sign, Auto Track Windes and Microdrainag.

This exciting role will offer candidates the chance to join a dynamic Traffic and Transport team in London.

Successful candidates will be required to:

  • Manage a team of Traffic Engineers, working on a number of different traffic schemes including, but not limited to:
    • Cycling Design
    • Reducing Rat-Run
    • Traffic Calming,
    • Road safety
    • Public Consultation
    • Cost Estimates
    • Sign and Street Furniture Decluttering Audit
    • Traffic Signal Junction Assessment
    • Public Realm Improvement Schemes
  • Liaison with multiple clients, with the ability to present and describe schemes to high profile clients.
  • Conduct Vehicle swept path assessments.
  • Gain familiarity with finances in terms of project funding and budgeting.
