Geoenvironmental Scientist

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Geoenvironmental Scientist to join a leading UK Geotechnical and Contaminated Land Consultancy, to be involved in projects that have both Geotechnical and Geo-Environmental aspects. The office based in Chester, and you will complete both office and site work.

This role will enable the successful candidate to work on a wide variety of projects from commencement to completion, including landfills, housing and infrastructure developments, with clients such as local authorities, power suppliers, oil companies and housing builders.

The successful candidate will be required to supervise and undertake intrusive Site Investigations, liaise with subcontractors and manage the Health & Safety aspects on site.

As a Geo-Environmental Scientist, you will also be required to:

* Work both within the office and visit sites
* Carry out Preliminary Risk Assessments including Phase 1 Desk Studies
* Oversee fieldwork activities
* Be responsible for Project Management duties
* Manage subcontractors
* Environmental Due diligence
* Write technical reports, including factual and interpretive
* Undertake soil and water sampling scheduling

To be considered for this role, candidates must have demonstrable experience of completing Site Investigation works, with a good working knowledge of Contaminated Land.

Candidates are required to have a strong degree within Geology, Geotechnics, Earth Sciences or a similar relevant discipline.

Being a member of a recognised institute and being committed to achieving Chartered status would be advantageous, but is not essential.

Personal specification:

* Good written and verbal communication skills
* Strong team working skills and the ability to work well as an individual
* Possess a good understanding of planning legislation
* Experience of working with Geotechnical software is desirable
* Previous experience of preparing factual and interpretive reports to a high standard
* Knowledge/experience of Eurocode 7 and its impact
* Full UK driving licence
* Able to attend sites
* Willingness to spend large proportions of time away from home to visit sites across the UK
