Senior Ecologist

My client is one of the largest, award-winning, independent, Ecological Consultancies in the UK and has been established since the late 1990s. With 6 offices located within Wales and England, they are able to provide a complete ecological service, from fieldwork and baseline surveys to impact assessment, biodiversity management, project design, and expert witness advice. They are currently looking to bring an experienced Senior Ecologist into their team based in Oxford.

To successfully achieve the position of Senior Ecologist you should have:

* Over 5 years of professional experience working in an Ecological consultancy / in the Ecology sector;
* A technical specialism and/or one or more protected species licenses;
* Knowledge and understanding of the planning system and current wildlife legislation;
* Confidence in written and verbal communication and a demonstrable track record in both;
* Project management experience;
* The ability to understand, identify and resolve ecological issues;
* The desire to promote high professional standards in ecology;
* A good BSc or an MSc in a relevant ecological subject;
* A full driving license.

During your time at this role you will be:

* Carrying out ecological surveys and preparing assessment reports of varying kinds;
* Preparing management plans, method statements, mitigation and enhancement strategies, etc;
* Ecology-related planning and development work;
* Applications for protected species licenses;
* BREEAM assessments;
* Commissioned research for statutory agencies, local authorities and other bodies;
* Day-to-day dealings with clients, and their agents and contractors;
* Responsibility for the management of individual projects and budgets etc.
