Qualification - Ideally you will hold a degree in a relevant discipline such as Civil Engineering / Structural Engineering or similar subject

Experience - Ideally you will have around 2 years experience as a highway design engineer

Salary - £25000 - £35000 + benefits

Summary

One of the leading consulting firms of engineers is now seeking a highway design engineer to join their talented highways engineering team. You will find yourself working on a range of major and minor highways schemes providing high levels of highways design expertise. You will be working within a friendly team and will receive continual support and training to assist your development along with the opportunity to work towards relevant qualifications.

Duties

As a highways design engineer with some experience already gained in highways engineering you will be expected to carry out your duties with minimal supervision, although training and support will be provided by the Senior Highways Engineers in your team. Your duties will include;

• Design of traffic management projects

• Preparation of preliminary designs

• Undertaking tender and cost estimation

• Preparation of contract documentation

• Ensure projects are delivered to requirements and are following guidelines and procedures that are set out by local authorities

• Prepare drawings and details to obtain technical approval for highways schemes

Typical Projects

Recent projects undertaken by my client include major schemes involving the M1 the M6 and some major A roads in the West Midlands area. You can expect to work on minor and major highways schemes for clients in both the private and public sector.

About you

The successful highways design engineer will meet the following requirements;

• Ideally you will have a BENG / MENG or equivalent in Civil Engineering / Structural Engineering or other similar subject

• Preferably you will have around 2 or more years experience as highways design engineer or experience in most of the above duties

• It will be advantageous to have experience working with UK design codes and highways agency standards and regulations

• It will be advantageous to have experience in some or all of the following software packages; PDS/MX design/AutoCAD/ WINDES
