PhD fellowship in cosmochemistry and planetary sciences at Globe Institute

The Centre for Star and Planet Formation at the GLOBE Institute is a three-year PhD fellowship in the field of cosmochemistry and planetary sciences. The PhD fellowship is available from February 1, 2020 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The Centre for Star and Planet Formation (Starplan) is a multidisciplinary research centre focused on understanding the formation of planetary systems, including the Solar System, using a multidisciplinary approach that combines astronomy, astrophysics and cosmochemistry. The main focus of these PhD research positions is centered on elucidating the timescales and processes leading to the formation of the Solar System, including the accretion and differentiation of rocky planets, by measurement of isotopic variations in extraterrestrial materials. Further information on the Institute is linked at https://globe.ku.dk and about Starplan at https://globe.ku.dk/research/starplan/.

We seek a highly-motivated individual with a strong background in isotope geochemistry, preferably with experience in mass spectrometry and clean laboratory techniques, to join a dynamic research group and take full advantage of the state-of-the-art isotope facilities that the institution offers to pursue innovative research. These include thermal-ionization and multiple-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometers (Thermo Scientific Triton and Neptune, respectively) as well as ultra-clean laboratories. The candidate must possess the credentials necessary to qualify for the PhD programme at the University of Copenhagen.
