Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board

Research Manager

Competitive Package

The Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB), based at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire, seeks to improve the sustainability and competitiveness of the main agriculture and horticulture sectors across the UK. Its work is entirely funded via statutory levies collected directly from the industry.

The HDC (Horticultural Development Company), is the horticultural division of AHDB and is the leading commissioner of applied research for the commercial horticultural industry in the UK. We are currently seeking to appoint a Research Manager with a strong applied science background to help commission and manage our research programmes and participate in the technical development of HDC's research strategy. Reporting to HDC's Head of Research, the post will involve working closely with at least one of our crop sector panels and associated grower associations. Close liaison with our research contractors is also required.

Qualified to at least degree level or equivalent experience, you will ideally have extensive horticultural industry and/or applied science experience, including an understanding of plant science research funding in the UK. Knowledge/experience of the ornamentals industry would be particularly useful.

If you are motivated by putting applied science into practice for the benefit of the UK commercial horticultural industry and enjoy the challenge of dealing with a wide range of people and organisations from scientists to growers, then this is the environment for you.

To apply, please visit the careers section on the AHDB website www.ahdb.org.uk. The job description can be downloaded from the website.
