Professor of Plant ScienceApplications are invited for the post of Professor of Plant Science in the School of Biological, Earth and Environmental Sciences (BEES) at University College Cork in Ireland. The appointee will be an established scientist of international distinction, with research interests in the field of plant molecular biology, focused on the use of molecular approaches to investigate topics of environmental importance. S/he will have experience of leading innovative research programmes, with evidence of significant grant capture and a high-quality publication record. The appointee will also be expected to play a leadership role in the area of Plant Science, and to be an effective contributor to the teaching (at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels) and administrative elements of the School. BEES is a highly research-active school, formed this year by the amalgamation of the departments of Zoology, Ecology and Plant Science (http://www.ucc.ie/zeps/) and Geology (each awarded a grade 4 rating in the recent externally audited Research Quality Review), and the Environmental Science and Environmental Management degrees. BEES has 25 academic staff and more than 100 researchers, including over twenty post-doctoral researchers. BEES also has strong links to the university's Environmental Research Institute (http://eri.ucc.ie), which was awarded a grade 5 rating. We offer seven highly regarded undergraduate degree programmes and two taught Masters programmes, as well as contributing to inter-disciplinary degree programmes such as Genetics.
