This role is anticipated to include the management of works
on several small (generally domestic) sites where oil spillages have occurred at
any one time, inclusive of the responsibilities outlined below (not exhaustive).
Much of the work will be site based but regular office
visits, will be required, together with detailed and accurate record keeping, in
accordance with my clients procedures, and ongoing liaison with project managers
and operations managers.
An important part of the role is maintaining a friendly and
professional representation of the company to the householder and/or client at
all times – the sites are generally people’s homes and we aim to minimise
distress and disruption to the householder.

Scoping the extent of contaminated soil removal works and
subsequent reinstatement works (e.g. landscaping, reinstatement of driveways,
building repairs, kitchen installation, decorating, reinstatement of heating
and electrical systems etc) required at any specific site. Scoping is to
include the compilation of building specifications, following discussions with
the project manager, prior to remedial works commencing. Specifications are to
include the number of man hours required to complete each task and estimates
for materials and associated costs involved.

Liaison with appropriate regulatory authorities (such as
building control) and/or independent structural engineers etc when tasks
dictate their involvement (such as underpinning works).

Managing and supervising operatives undertaking physical
building works (general small scale building) and groundworks.

Programming, inclusive of ensuring all necessary staff,
materials and equipment arrive on site at appropriate times during the course
of the works. Regular reporting to the project manager on works progress and
any potential delays/extensions.

Managing site and sub-contractor costs, inclusive of
detailed record keeping, and reporting to the project manager any necessary
adjustments and extras.

Managing site operatives, staff and trades to ensure all
works are undertaken in accordance with quality and Health and Safety
management systems, inclusive of spot-checks and all necessary supervision

Understanding and managing on-site and field Health and
Safety procedures, including ensuring adequate completion of workplace risk
assessments and method statements by self, sub-contractors and employed staff.
This should include checking H&S risk assessments and method statements prior
to and during fieldwork activities.

Managing operatives’ and staff’s workloads and ensuring all
are aware of their roles and responsibilities.

Sourcing and appointing, in discussion with the project
manager, specialist tradesmen to undertake works where required (such as
electrical works, plumbing etc).

Managing the installation of remedial systems where
required, including undertaking ongoing monitoring and maintenance visits
(training will be provided).

Record-keeping and reporting all activities, findings and
progress on site back to project managers to allow them to update clients.

Provision of general support to colleagues and completion
of additional exceptional tasks as directed.
