This environmental and planning consultants requires an experienced engineer in its Waste and Energy team in Bristol to lead its technical work and build its technical expertise.

You will be experienced in technical due diligence of proposed or under construction facilities for funders or waste management/utilities companies. Supporting PFI/PPP procurement work through technical evaluations and support in technology selection for bidders. You will be carrying out technical procurement processes for clients for proven and emerging technologies. Carbon assessment and life cycle analysis of proposed solutions. You will suggest technical solutions most suitable to the feedstock, available site, funding mechanism, energy usage requirements in the area and relevant financial incentives. You will be capable of developing strategies for clients with respect to renewable energy generation and utilisation.

You will currently work in waste treatment and energy recovery including non-waste biomass. The position will entail taking an active role in development and delivery of the firms future business strategy for the waste, sustainability and energy management sector, in association with the company Board and the waste development team.

You will have a detailed technical knowledge of multiple waste treatment technologies, ideally for feedstocks ranging from energy crops to residual waste, and have demonstrable industry experience. A sound market knowledge of waste treatment technologies including the operational performance, maintenance requirements, capital and operating costs, potential key risk areas, utility requirements and track record of each treatment type.

Operational experience is essential, as well as proven ability to prepare reports explaining technical information to lay people. You will have worked with an Engineering Waste Consultancy, Design Engineer for a Waste Treatment Provider, Engineering Development Manager, Plant Manager or a Plant Commissioning Engineer.
