Carbon Management Specialist

Our client is a public sector organization. They are currently recruiting a Carbon Management Specialist to work within their Finance/Fleet & Equipment Division. The organization already has a board approved plan, which mirrors a national NHS report called, "saving carbon, improving health".

You will be responsible for the management of the Trust carbon footprint, working closely with the carbon trust, developing a robust project & implementation plan to reduce their carbon footprint.

You will be involved in:

  • Production, implementation and monitoring of climate related strategy documents and action plans
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex information to audiences with differing levels of understanding and differing expectations.
  • Working with internal stakeholders (Directors, Non Executives Assistant Directors other Senior Managers, Front Line Staff and Staff Representatives) to understand their needs and perspectives in regard to managing & reducing the Trust carbon footprint.
  • Establish Strategic Key Performance Indicators. This must measure all aspects of carbon management & effects and must demonstrate the achievement of required service objectives / targets. They must demonstrate value for money (VFM).
  • In depth knowledge of the causes and implications of climate change
  • In depth knowledge of methods and options to mitigate carbon dioxide emissions within the transport, business and domestic sectors
  • In depth knowledge of the management of carbon emissions within a large organisation
  • In depth knowledge of methods and options to adapt businesses and organisations to the predicted effects of climate change
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation
  • Knowledge of sustainable construction/building issues and assessment methods.
  • Management of carbon emissions within a large organisation
  • Leader of successful project teams

In order to be considered for this role you should have:

  • Minimum 3 years relevant experience within a large organization
  • Can demonstrate achievement of successfully introducing and managing change programmes
  • Can demonstrate successful business planning and experience of performance management.
  • Strong project management skills.

  • Can evidence innovative and strategic thinking ability
  • Has the ability to establish good working relations with internal and external stakeholders
  • Has strong analytical, numerical and critical reasoning skills and capable of effective problem solving
  • Ability to translated strategic goals into effective and achievable operational plans and capable of monitoring their progress and outcomes.

Knowledge/Educational Achievements

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent with a post-graduate qualification/experience in Environmental Science or equivalent.
  • Can demonstrate continuous professional development and is committed to further

  • Has current knowledge of the national NHS context
  • Has specialist knowledge & expertise preferably in commercial and public sector
  • Knowledge of effective project and change management techniques
