Strategy Analyst

The Energy Technologies Institute has been created to bring a new level of focus, ambition and industrial collaboration to the UK's work in the field of low carbon energy, science, technology and engineering, and will exploit the UK's potential to be a world-leader in energy technologies. It will connect the best scientists, technologists and engineers in academic and industrial organisations in the UK and overseas. Based at Loughborough University Technology Park, the new Institute is a true 50:50 public/private partnership, backed by up to £1 billion of investment over the next 10 years. The Institute will develop projects and partnerships with groups who can deliver the world's best low carbon energy technologies at near commercial scales.
The Role:
- The Strategy Analyst will be a key player in ensuring that the ETI strategy and programmes are fact based and that critical information and assumptions are documented, so that the impact of changes can be readily assessed
- Providing economic and modelling support to individual Programme Delivery teams through the responsible Strategy Managers, you will ensure a consistent set of assumptions are maintained for system modelling and economic evaluation of low carbon technologies
- Developing a detailed model of the UK energy system which will include supply, demand, environment (carbon emissions) and economic factors to guide the development of and integrate the likely impact of ETI programmes
The Candidate:
- Possessing a higher degree in detailed economic and financial analysis, UK energy market knowledge/experience and familiarity with low carbon technologies is essential
- Through research, you will be experienced in economic evaluation, complex analysis and quantitative modelling; able to construct models using tools such as spreadsheets together with Monte Carlo Markov Chain add-ins (e.g. Crystal Ball, @Risk)
- Capable of forming appropriate stakeholder relationships, you will be comfortable delivering on stretching targets, and will have experience in contributing to overall goal setting and planning
