Our client is one of the largest energy producers on the African continent. An opportunity exists for an entrepreneurial strategic thinker to play a pivotal role within a newly established Renewable Energy division. The main focus of this role is to strategically lead and direct resources for all elements of renewable energy projects through evolutionary technologies which will enable energy efficiency in South Africa.

Key strategic challenges for the position:

• Lead and manage the project development function and portfolio in order to achieve the organisation's investment plans
• Manage the technical assessment of the resource potential of sites and conduct market analysis as well as feasibility studies to get initial investment approval
• Lead and direct project execution
• Take responsibility for the commissioning and hand over of completed renewable energy plants
• Provide strategic leadership and guidance to the team

Qualifications and Experience required:

• A deep understanding of the renewable energy environment
• At least 5 years experience in managing projects (preferably renewable energy projects)
• Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar Project Management professional certification
• Proven track record in project based analysis of renewable energy
• Knowledge of engineering of renewable energy
• Engineering degree
