Offshore Development Manager


To meet the needs of FORL's expanding offshore wind portfolio we are seeking an enthusiastic Offshore Development Manager to join our growing team in London. You will assist in the many varied aspects of developing our offshore project portfolio and will contribute to the implementation of FORL's Offshore Wind and Marine Renewables strategy.

It is important that you have project management experience preferably gained from the offshore renewables or other energy sectors, and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Your core skills could be from a wide range of disciplines such as marine environmental science or marine engineering, but above all you must be able to demonstrate an ability to assist with the timely delivery of projects.

On a day a to day basis you will report to the Offshore Projects Manager and assist with many aspects of development and consenting work. This will include the management of specialist consultants and contractors involved in technical project design, Environmental Impact Assessment processes, and involvement in the consenting process. This will require an ability to specify and tender offshore survey work and associated studies, work with technical managers, as well as engage with regulators, statutory consultees and the wide range of stakeholder interests.

The successful candidate would ideally have:

  • Relevant post qualification experience in a marine environmental/oceanographic or marine engineering related degree.
  • Experience in the development and delivery of projects, ideally in the offshore wind sector combined with an interest in other marine renewables
  • Project management skills including a proven ability to liaise with multiple stakeholders, statutory consultees, internal staff, subcontractors and consultants.
  • Experience of managing Environmental Impact Assessments and planning consents
  • Be highly motivated and have an ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines so as to contribute to the success of the company
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team and manage consultants
  • Good analytical skills and ability to interpret a range of data and information
  • Strong commercial and technical outlook
  • Confidence in decision making
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • A flexible approach and outstanding interpersonal skills combined with a good eye for detail. .
  • Good PC literacy and preferably demonstrable experience of project management packages

The Role:

Assist the Offshore Projects Manager in the delivery of and increasing portfolio of projects in the Offshore Wind and other marine renewables sector.

Key Tasks

  • Project management of environmental projects, as part of a co-ordinated development team
  • Manage the consenting process including liaison with government departments and advisors, statutory and non-statutory consultee's
  • Provide management interface with specialists, consultants and contractors including the ongoing management of offshore data collection and analysis
  • Develop and implement stakeholder engagement plans
  • Provide non technical support to general team business activities
  • Represent FOR at industry meetings and seminars
  • Willingness to travel
