American Farmland Trust (AFT) is the nation's leading nonprofit organization dedicated to saving the land that sustains us by protecting farmland, promoting sound farming practices, and keeping farmers on the land. AFT is seeking an experienced professional to help: 1) compile and analyze spatial data to better target the long-term protection of the nation's agricultural resources and 2) provide tools and spatial products that will help staff, communities and states take action to protect these resources.
We are looking for a dynamic individual with direct professional experience who can build and expand the internal GIS capabilities for AFT. The starting point for the new GIS manager will include over 500 GB of data that Conservation Science Partners has assembled or developed for AFT as part of its Farms Under Threat initiative (https://www.farmland.org/initiatives/farms-under-threat). The data, some of it never before available, is being used to map current and past land use, examine patterns of land use change and assess future threats to America's most valuable agricultural lands.
