Information Management opportunities in the Intelligence community

Dstl is home to some of the most exciting technical careers in the UK. Our Information Management Department concentrates on gathering and analysing the intelligence that will help give the MoD, Armed Forces and UK Government a crucial edge in planning and decision-making. The people who work in IMD come from an incredibly diverse set of disciplines, and they work together to make sure that the UK achieves and upholds information superiority.

Creativity. Agility. Good instincts. Sharp reactions. It takes all of these and more to work within our Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance (ISTAR) Team. When your colleagues and the wider Defence community need information, you and your team will know how to supply it. As you use your science or engineering skills in support of vital classified activities, you're likely to be involved with projects including the delivery of geospatial intelligence, multi-source intelligence exploitation, ISTAR systems engineering and ISTAR support to operations and national security programmes. We currently have the following opportunities to join our team:

  • 22797 - ISTAR Scientist
  • 22799 - Senior ISTAR Scientist
  • 22800 - Geospatial Intelligence Scientist
  • 22801 - Geospatial Intelligence Scientist - senior

The 3,500 people who work for Dstl are among the nation's most talented and creative scientists, engineers and analysts. We put our trust in them and give the freedom to work in the ways that suit them best, on projects that really matter to the safety of us all. Whether analysing the July 7 bombings, tracking the source of chemicals, providing security and counter terrorism support to the London 2012 Olympic Games, or trying to predict the behaviours of people who plant roadside bombs in Afghanistan, our work makes the news because it's right at the forefront of national security.

We reward our people for their tenacity and achievement. Dstl can offer you a supportive learning environment, as well as the opportunity to collaborate across an exciting range of disciplines, focused on one main goal. Because we work on the cutting-edge, there's always a chance to develop new skills. And as a government agency, we are able to offer a very impressive benefits package.
