Tasks

In the framework of EU founded projects we develop methods and algorithms to estimate surface solar radiation in Alpine regions for local and regional energy management. The successful candidate will develop methods and scientific algorithms to downscale the satellite based solar radiation data (2.5km resolution) into a 100m resolution grid. In addition, s/he will work in evaluating and resolving the spectral composition of the incoming solar radiation using existing radiative transfer models, satellite and ground based data. The candidate has to prove an excellent scientific background in atmospheric physics and remote sensing of the atmosphere, a continuous record of peer reviewed publications and the ability in developing new project ideas and research proposals.
