Junior Researcher (Postdoc) in Remote Sensing of Global Vegetation
The department of Natural Resources and Environmental Management at the University of Hawaii at Manoa seeks a recent PhD interested in working with an interdisciplinary team to generate climate research-quality satellite data records of global vegetation indices and vegetation phenology. Position will address satellite data continuity issues involving multi-platform/multi-sensor data, develop science algorithms to allow for multi-sensor translations of vegetation indices, surface reflectances, and land surface phenology, and participate in phenological characterizations of tropical regions. Requires PhD in natural resource science/management or related field. Proficiency in C, and experience in Fortran and working with a Unix or Linux environment are essential. Appointment is to begin approximately in May 2009 or soon thereafter for one year, renewable dependent upon performance and availability of funds.
