If you're a team-oriented individual with a strong mix of graphic design and GIS skills, we are interested in knowing more about what you can bring to the fast-paced environment at the Ontario Geological Survey, Ministry of Northern Development and Mines. In this role, you will: provide drafting support for bedrock mapping projects; prepare accurate publication quality diagrams and figures for reports, presentations and scientific journals; prepare posters for national and international conferences and the general public. You will also be responsible for updating web pages, constructing digital base maps and providing technical advice.

Location: 933 Ramsey Lake Rd., Sudbury.

Qualifications: knowledge of drafting, graphics design, aesthetic and artistic layout principles; knowledge of cartographic techniques, principles and practices; demonstrated analytical, research and problem-solving skills; working knowledge of computer hardware and platforms, as well as software such as CorelDraw v.10 or higher, CAD, GIS, HTML Editor, Dreamweaver and MS-FrontPage, presentation, database, word processing, spreadsheets and various graphics file formats; interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment; conflict resolution, listening and information-sharing skills; understanding of methods related to planning, organization and goal-setting; oral and written communication skills; knowledge and understanding of digital topographic projections, coordinate systems and methods, as well as geologic and technical terms and descriptions used in construction of maps and related graphics.

Salary range: $812 - $932 per week
