GIS Developer

Summary

We are seeking a GIS Developer capable of design, development and support of desktop and web mapping applications for ArcGIS Desktop and ArcGIS Server. Applicants will have a good degree or MSc in Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and/or Computer Science, together with established development experience. You will be involved in assisting in updating and maintaining a range of geographic information and making it available to a growing number of consumers both internally and externally. You will be expected to take a lead in this growing area in the development of desktop applications and web mapping capabilities, also providing support and mentoring.

Responsibilities and duties include:

  • Customization of ArcGIS for Desktop applications
  • Maintenance and development of add-ins to create custom applications and extensions for ArcGIS Desktop
  • Maintenance and development of web applications with ArcGIS for Server
  • Assisting with the development of mobile applications for Smartphones and Tablets
  • Assisting with the development and maintenance of the Geographic Information System
  • Providing documentation and training for systems to ensure they are used to their full potential
  • Sharing your knowledge and experience within the group

Software knowledge:

  • ArcGIS for Desktop 10
  • ArcGIS for Server 10
  • ArcSDE for SQL Server, configuration and tuning
  • ArcObjects SDK 10 .NET Framework
  • ArcGIS API for JavaScript and Flex
  • Microsoft Visual Studio
  • Microsoft SharePoint
  • Additional experience of any .Net, Java, JavaScript, Flex, C#, XML, Python, RDBMS

Qualifications:

  • Degree or MSc in GIS and/or Computer Science
  • Proven experience in your technical field
