Assistant/Associate Professor in Geology



The Department of Earth Sciences at Sultan Qaboos University is a vibrant and growing department located at the heart of the petroleum industry in the Middle East. We are currently seeking a geologist at the Assistant/Associate Professor level starting Fall 2017. Candidates with PhD degree in Remote sensing and GIS with background in Geology and research interest in Remote sensing and GIS applications in natural resource management, Oil & gas developments in deserts, and in natural hazards, such as landslide mapping and monitoring are invited to apply.

Consideration will be given to candidates have demonstrated excellence in teaching, possess a strong commitment to research and scholarship, as reflected in peer-reviewed publications, have strong connections with industry, and be engaged in a research area that has a strong field component.

The successful candidate will be committed to effective teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, involved in high-quality research program, and will contribute productively to the academic life of the Department and the local community.

The appointment will be made at either the assistant or associate professor level, based on experience. Sultan Qaboos University offers competitive tax free salary, medical coverage, 60 days paid annual leave and free accomedation. Application deadline is Jan 19th, 2017.
