Department of Geography

Assistant Professor of GIScience


The Department of Geography seeks a specialist in GIScience with teaching and research interests in the application of web-based GIS to the study of environmental issues, community development, or planning to fill a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level beginning in August 2014. A Ph.D. in geography is required at the time of appointment. The successful applicant will teach core courses in UMW's new master of science in Geospatial Analysis (MSGA) as well as GIS and other geography courses at the undergraduate level. In addition, the successful candidate will work with the Center for Spatial Analysis and Research (CeSAR) to help forge partnerships between the university, local community organizations, businesses, and government agencies.
