GIS Database Administrator / Developer



Yotta is one of the world's most innovative 3D mapping companies, located in Leamington Spa, UK and Kansas, USA. Yotta is transforming the way that we map the world, thanks to its capability and expertise in sophisticated geospatial surveying, and the extraction of tiny details from massive datasets. We are expanding rapidly and are looking for an experienced database administrator to join the Yotta product team, to work on existing and new products in the UK offices.

Job Description:

  • The Database Administrator is primarily responsible for maintaining and enhancing Yotta's database infrastructure. Everything we do depends on the quality, integrity, and availability of our vast and growing data sets; the successful candidate will perform advanced & complex database design, development, and implementation, including GIS capabilities, and will work closely with application developers across Yotta's product portfolio.
  • The DBA will also undertake system administration functions as required, including software installation and upgrades, user account administration, file security, backups, capacity and performance monitoring, and trouble-shooting.
  • As we are a small but rapidly expanding organisation, the role will also involve some general IT support responsibilities to ensure the smooth running of the systems that support Yotta's business, operations, and products.

Requirements:

  • Good Computer Science degree is preferable.
  • Proven experience of designing, developing, scaling, and maintaining complex databases, ideally involving GIS capabilities.
  • Experience of MS SQL Server (2005) is essential; knowledge of other RDBMS technologies would be advantageous.
  • Experience of database programming in .NET (preferably C#)
  • Knowledge and experience of interfacing databases through web-services.
  • Good general IT skills, including Windows Server 2003, Networking, Hardware, System Administration, and Perl scripting.
