Research Position (Faculty Position) in Natural/Induced Seismicity

The Department of Physics, University of Naples Federico II, seeks to appoint a Post-Doc researcher for the following position: A Fixed-Term Research Position (RTD-A)* at the Seismological Laboratory of the Department of Physics - University of Naples Federico II

The contract has as object the carrying out of research, teaching and students tutoring.

Research activity

The researcher will collaborate in project research activities aimed at the investigation and modeling of the mechanisms of generation of natural/induced seismicity in industrial energy exploitation areas and at development and application of innovative seismic methods and technologies to detect and track shallow crustal fluid and related seismicity.

The candidate is required to have expertise in the modeling and data analysis of physical processes related to seismic waves propagation and earthquake source, processing and analysis of experimental data and capabilities to develop, use and manage seismic networks and instruments.

Teaching activity

The researcher will be involved in teaching and didactic support to classes of the courses offered by the Department of Physics, of the classes for the doctorate courses as well as the formation of doctoral candidates (in Italian or English) (max 60 hours/year).


Applicant must hold, at least:

  • PhD in Earth Science (or equivalent), obtained in Italy or abroad
  • Publications on international peer-reviewed journals (from 8 to 12 publications).

Furthermore, it will be assessed training or research activities, participation in or responsible for research projects, participation in conferences.

*The Fixed-Term Researcher RTDA is the first level of the academic career in Italy (1st L. RTD-A - 2nd L. RTD-B - 3rd L. Associate Professor - 4th L. Full Professor)

The RTDA contract will last three years; at the of end of the contract in case of financial availability, and of positive evaluation of the teaching and research activities carried out within the Department, it can be renewed and pass to the 2nd Level RTD-B.
