The Earthquakes, Volcanoes & Tectonics Section within the Natural Hazards Group is seeking to appoint a Seismic Microzoning Specialist, to undertake research into estimation of ground motion amplification effects using non-invasive seismic techniques, and to apply these methods toward understanding basin and other microzoning effects, as well as site characterisation. The ideal candidate will have a PhD (or equivalent qualification) in seismology, geophysics or earthquake engineering, with an emphasis on seismic wave propagation, ambient noise and microtremor techniques. Geotechnical expertise in soil properties and non-linear response effects, or experience in large-scale basin modelling, would also be an advantage.
