Centre for Polar Observation and Modelling and Centre for Observation and Modelling of Earthquakes, Volcanoes and Tectonics, University of Leeds

The University of Leeds is hiring a manager for the science programs and strategic operations of the Centre for Polar Observation and Modelling (CPOM) and the Centre for Observation and Modelling of Earthquakes, Volcanoes, and Tectonics (COMET).

CPOM and COMET are world-leading research centres funded by the Natural Environment Research Council to provide UK national capability in satellite observations and numerical modelling. The centres have been established for 20 years as partnerships between several UK Universities, and are based at the University of Leeds with a shared executive team. Both centres work with a wide range of other sponsors, most notably the European Space Agency, and operate on a combined budget of around 4 million per year.

The Centre Manager's role is to lead and develop our core science operations and strategic partnerships, which are carried out by around 15 staff including the Centre Directors, Science Leaders, and Science Staff, with the help of a support team. We are seeking a creative, enthusiastic, and independent person for this role, and a PhD or equivalent experience in Earth or Environmental Science is essential.

The post is full time for 5 years in the first instance.

Salary is in the range 41,526 to 49,553 p.a.
