A position of Research Associate (RA) is available at SEIS-UK, a NERC funded national facility for portable seismic instrumentation and data management based in the Department of Geology. These systems are available for use on research projects organised by members of the UK academic community. An RA is required to work in the team running the facility. The postholder will be responsible for maintenance of instruments, user training and data management systems administration. Participation in international fieldwork may be required dependant on previous experience.
A good first degree in geophysics, engineering or a physical science, or equivalent experience, is expected. Candidates should have a PhD, or be close to completing a PhD, in a relevant research area. Programming or scripting experience in a unix environment is essential, as is some systems administration experience. Additionally, candidates should have experience with geophysics fieldwork or relevant laboratory experience.
