Department: RMS's model development team boasts a team of around eighty scientists based across London and Newark, California building mathematical models that predict the distributions of possible damage due to the effects of earthquakes, tropical storms, extra-tropical storms, thunderstorms, storm-surges and fluvial floods, using a combination of observed data, reanalysis data, numerical and statistical models and data assimilation. RMS is the pioneer the development and application of complex statistical and numerical modelling methods for the quantification of natural hazard risk. RMS' risk models are the most detailed and comprehensive models of natural catastrophes produced anywhere in the world. Our clients include several hundred insurance and reinsurance companies as well as brokers, banks, hedge funds, regional and local governments, and multilateral agencies. Responsibilites: RMS is now looking to hire a Senior Catastrophe Risk Modeler into our London development team to support RMS's growing activities within the capital markets. Responsibilities will include both developing and communicating state of the art practices in the field of catastrophe modelling. The position will work closely with the our core development teams across all our hazard, exposure and vulnerability teams to assist in the application of RMS models in new and innovative ways. The role will also require close enagement with our capital markets group and will span the range of RMS model development agenda ranging from interpretation and development of stochastic hazard models through to the production of estimates of likely damage in the days and weeks following a large natural catastrophe (and importantly relating this information to RMS's activities in the ILS market).
