The University of Bayreuth, Germany, invites applications for the following position:

Research Assistant (similar to Assistant Professor)
in Soil Science

The position is available from October 2013 on. The contract is for 3 years with the option for a 3 year extension. The Department of Soil Ecology at University of Bayreuth investigates the role of soils in the biogeochemistry of forests, peatlands, and other semi natural ecosystems. The successful candidate will develop his/her own research program. The opportunity to achieve the degree of "Habilitation" (venia legendi) will be offered.

The candidate must have a PhD and experience in experimental work with soils. Furthermore, experience in teaching of soil science in field, laboratory and classroom courses will be helpful. The teaching load (in German language) is 5 hours per week during the semesters.
