Professor Soil Science

AgriBio, the Centre for AgriBioscience, is a $A288 million joint initiative of the Government of Victoria, through the Department of Primary Industries (DPI), and La Trobe University (La Trobe). AgriBio is Australia's premier Agribioscience facility, with a key emphasis on supporting and protecting Victoria's A$11.6 billion agricultural sector by focussing on cutting-edge research to improve productivity, fight disease and reduce environmental impact (http://www.agribio.com.au/).

This position will also have access to facilities within the new $100 million La Trobe Institute for Molecular Science (LIMS). LIMS has further established La Trobe University as an international research leader in the fields of molecular science, biotechnology and nanotechnology.

In Soil Science we are seeking a specialist in one of the following areas: Soil Science and Sustainability; Soil Chemistry, Biology and Plant-Soil Interactions; or Soil Carbon Sequestration (emerging (bio)technologies to enhance carbon capture and nutrient uptake).

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Distinguished record of original, innovative and internationally recognised research, with evidence of its impact and significance.
  • Outstanding record of publications, including papers in top-tier and high-impact journals in the relevant discipline area.
  • A significant record of achievement in attracting research grant funding and other research funding
  • Relevant doctoral qualification, together with substantial research experience.
  • Demonstrated high level leadership and management skills, including leadership of research teams or projects, financial management of grants for research projects, supervising, mentoring and fostering the research activities of others and contributing effectively at school, faculty and/or university levels.
  • Evidence of an international reputation in the appointee's professional field, and demonstrated significant national and international influence on their profession
