The Institute of Soil Science invites applications for a full position as a
Senior Scientist, Soil Science and Soil Chemistry

Responsibilities and duties
The focus of the Institute of Soil Science at the Leibniz Universität is on biogeochemical processes in soil, particularly the analysis of binding, transformation, and mobilization/immobilization processes of natural and anthropogenic compounds occurring at the solid-solution interface. The emphasis of this position is on innovative research, high impact publications and obtaining external competitive funding. The position offers the possibility to develop an own scientific profile, taking advantage of joined analytical facilities located at the Centre of Solid State Chemistry and New Materials at the Leibniz University and at the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR). Teaching of students is required within the study courses Geosciences and Landscape Ecology (4 hours per week during the semester).
Employment conditions
Applicants should hold a Diploma or MSc degree in environmental science, soil science, geology, or another relevant field and a PhD within these fields. Previous experience in analytical techniques such as mass spectrometry, microspectroscopy, surface and porosity analyses, and in geochemical modeling are advantageous. Good knowledge of the English language, written and oral, and experience in scientific writing is expected, likewise the willingness of learning German.
