The successful candidate will represent the quantitative analysis of plant-soil-interactions as well as their impacts on earth surface processes and sediment transport. Main focus will be on short (minutes and hours) to medium time scales (years to centuries), and spatial scales from plot to landscape. Interdependencies between human activities and geoecological systems are of special interest.
The candidate is expected to conduct basic and applied science using empirical, lab-based physicochemical and/or quantitative-mathematical methods. We seek candidates with an established record of independent research and publications in peer-reviewed international journals as well as first successes in seeking external funding. Moreover, the successful candidate shall contribute to strengthening and shaping the geoecology unit, but should also get involved with the University’s Research Focus Earth Sciences and multi-partner initiatives on bio-geo-interactions. We can offer multiple disciplines in the Faculty of Science as well as many associated research centres, e.g., AWI, GFZ, PIK, UFZ, ZALF, and thus altogether an excellent network for research cooperation.
We expect a strong commitment to basic undergraduate and graduate education in german-language on fundamentals of geoecology as well as on the topics of soil science and ecogeomorphology.
In the medium term, teaching should extend to educational programmes in geography (Bachelor/Master of Education), geosciences and a planned international master programme on remote sensing, geoinformation and visualization. On the long run, undergraduate and graduate classes shall be taught in German and English.
The hiring process is subject to the requirements set forth in section 45 of the Brandenburg Higher Education Act.
Applications (with a presentation of your research interests, curriculum vitae, copies of academic certificates and documents, a list of publications, a list of courses taught, a list of externally funded projects) should be sent to the University of Potsdam firstname.lastname@example.org no later than May 15th, 2017.
