Based near Reading, working across UK
Reading Agricultural Consultants Ltd (RAC) specialises in providing expertise and advice on agricultural, environmental and countryside issues. In particular, we provide advice to farmers, land managers and planners on soil-related issues in relation to minerals, housing and infrastructure developments.
We are currently looking for someone to join our soils team, who ideally combines a working knowledge of the physical and chemical characteristics of UK soils with agricultural experience. The role includes surveying soils for Agricultural Land Classification to inform Environmental Impact Assessments, as well as the preparation of reports for smaller-scale developments.
An essential element of this role is the ability to critically appraise and assess soil characteristics and to work in the field as part of a team of soil surveyors, whilst understanding the wider agricultural context of soil.
The role requires the person to be committed and self-motivated, being able to write reports to a high standard in a timely manner.
Due to the rural nature of the work, a full driving licence is essential.
