Community Based Environmentalist

IDIS is an organisation that aims to empower local communities to influence local policy and environmental process. Working in partnership with VSO, they are seeking a community-based environmentalist who can help with the technical development of their work with rural communities.
Key duties:
- Identify sites and methodologies with colleagues to be used in Community-Based Environmental Monitoring Programmes
- Design methodology with stakeholders and produce budget and proposals
- Establishment of community based water quality monitoring programme
- Establish and conduct a biodiversity inventory with local stakeholders
- Degree in environmental science or applied ecology
- Knowledge and experience of field surveys especially in fluvial environments
- Knowledge of freshwater ecology
- Preferably experience of setting up local participatory conservation activities
