The Flagship operates in a matrix environment across 12 divisions of CSIRO. The Flagship office team currently comprises a Director, Executive Officer, Finance Manager, Communications Manager and Executive Assistant. The team is based in North Ryde (NSW) and works closely with its theme and stream leaders, science partners (internal and external) and other corporate functional areas all over Australia to ensure seamless development, delivery and communication of the research outcomes. This appointment provides an opportunity to join a major and challenging initiative. The Business Director will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of a business strategy to maximise impacts and benefits to Australia from the Flagship's broad research program. This must include an ability to facilitate and measure impacts and benefits achieved from a triple bottom line - social, environmental and economic - perspective. Clients and partners of the flagship include governments at all levels, industry and the community, and the appointee must be expert in development and nurturing of networks in all these environments. Other requirements include sound knowledge of commercial practices, risk management and corporate governance. The role is expected to be effectively fulfilled in collaboration with Management, Science, Business and Legal Professionals across a matrix structure.
