Specialist Groundwater Modeller
Fortescue Metals Group Ltd (FMG) is currently operating two major mine sites, a port operation and is evaluating a series of development projects across the Pilbara Region of Western Australia. In order to address the water management challenges of these projects FMG has gathered a strong internal team of groundwater and surface water management specialists. We have now established a role for a Specialist Groundwater Modeller to join the Perth based team in assessing, optimising and managing the water supply, dewatering, excess water disposal and ultimate closure of our large scale operations situated in a dynamic and sensitive groundwater environment.
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Earth Sciences or related subject with MSc in Hydrogeology, Hydraulic Engineering, or other related subject
- At least 7 years' relevant applied experience
- Broad experience in Hydrogeology
- Expertise and experience in the application of numerical models to mine dewatering, density-driven flow and unsaturated flow problems.
- Experience in FEFLOW mandatory, working knowledge in application of FEFLOW IFM module and other numerical and analytical tools a major plus
- Familiarity with the conceptual hydrogeology of the Pilbara Environment and/or extensive experience in mine dewatering predictive modelling
- Fluency in English and ability/availability to work in Australia
