For our operations in Antananarivo/Madagascar, we are looking for an

Programme component manager (m/f/d) aquaculture

Field of activity

GIZ is implementing the Global Programme on Sustainable Fishery and Aquaculture in seven countries. The programme aims to combat food insecurity by increasing the supply of fish and the income along the value chain. Within the global programme the country component Madagascar is focusing on the following activity areas: improve conditions for the local rice-fish and aquaculture production in ponds and set-up of a multi-stakeholder platform for the discussion of best practices and joint reflection of national strategies and legislations for a sustainable aquaculture production in Madagascar.

Your tasks

  • Project Management and supervision of a team of inter-/ national experts and consultants
  • Coordinate and supervise the implementation of the technical components of the Madagascar project
  • Represent the project in national and international events and meetings
  • Stakeholder-Management and consultation with local stakeholders including Ministries, fishermen, associations of the Madagascar aquaculture sector
  • Half-yearly progress reporting to the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development in coordination with the central steering unit in Eschborn/ Bonn
  • Financial management in coordination with the central steering unit in Eschborn/ Bonn
  • Implement of the Monitoring & Evaluation system in coordination with the central steering unit in Eschborn/ Bonn

Your profile

  • University degree in biology, aquaculture, agriculture, value chain development or an equivalent subject
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in development and international cooperation
  • Several years of relevant professional experience, preferably gained abroad in the seafood sector and on sustainable aquaculture production
  • Several years of working experience in Madagascar and/ or other African countries
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in policy advice with a professional consultant´s personality and sensibility in political communication
  • Experience in management of multi-stakeholder processes
  • Several years of experience in project management and supervision of teams and subcontractors
  • Business fluent in German or English and in French
